Backpack sat down with Cointelegraph, Solana, Tensor, Access Protocol and Dialect for a conversation about Solana Actions and Blinks here.

What are Solana Blinks?

Blinks (blockchain links) transforms crypto transactions by turning their access point into a simple link which can be shared on Twitter (and eventually Discord, Reddit etc.)

Dialect is the team of mad scientists behind (Actions) and Blinks, the latest in a long line of groundbreaking products which they have built for Solana.

Actions are the API, Blinks are the interface.

Actions are a protocol for creating & delivering Solana transactions through URLs, making Solana sharable everywhere.

Blinks, or Blockchain Links, are clients that detect Action URLs & unfurl them into full experiences.

Dialect

There is no front end development work required, the Actions API enables a simple copy/past link which enables you to:

Blinks has also released a mobile SDK package, the tooling needed to enable Blinks on mobile devices.

Actions and Blinks allow users to share Solana anywhere on the internet by unfurling URLs and providing interactive experiences. The idea originated from the concept of smart messages and transaction requests in Solana Pay.

Solfate

Developers can deep link from X/Twitter to a mobile wallet for a smooth signing UX (among other improvements).

Are Solana Actions and Blinks safe?

Solana Actions and Blinks are designed with security in mind and they are considered safe when used in a secure wallet environment.

Actions and blinks simplify processes, they don't introduce new risks beyond what standard blockchain transactions already involve.

  • Use a burner wallet
  • Verify transaction details

Whether you're staking tokens, minting NFTs, or anything in between - your actions still go through the same validation and signing process.

How can I use Solana Actions and Blinks with Backpack Wallet?

Simply enable Solana Actions in the Backpack Wallet settings menu and you will be able to interact with Solana applications which deploy Actions and Blinks.

Interacting with Actions and Blinks is the same process as accepting, reviewing and approving any other blockchain transaction.
